Like many persons across the globe, I have been riveted by the unjust expulsion and subsequent reinstatement of the two young, male representatives, Justin Jones and Justin J. Pearson, in Tennessee. The shameful bigotry at the root of the actions by the House Speaker and majority members was on display for all to see.
But something beautiful emerged from the debacle: the two young, resilient lawmakers were enveloped in a cocoon of love, support, acceptance and encouragement. People marched and chanted; pastors, families and loved ones called out to God; the young men summoned their faith; top attorneys issued strongly worded letters, warning against further punitive actions. A seismic shift occurred.
I smiled as I saw the events unfold, and I thought to myself: I am witnessing key principles of my book, “Resilient and Renewed: Thriving in Challenging Times,” available at https://a.co/d/9sJ9uBi, come alive. In my book, I examine key strategies for overcoming obstacles. One of the principles I describe in detail is the intersection between resilience, faith and support. No matter how strong we are, it is difficult to achieve our goals without faith, fortitude and assistance from others.
