If we fail to define ourselves and our goals, others will quickly do so for us. It can lead to complications and misunderstandings. Why allow unavoidable conflicts and tensions when we have the power to chart our own course and take complete control of our lives?

Kujichagulia, is the principle that is celebrated today, the second day of Kwanzaa. The principle of Kujichagulia is epitomized by a keen focus on self-identity, self-creation, self-esteem and self-direction.

The principle promotes the concept that before we can properly serve our communities and make a positive difference, we need to know who we are, what drives us, what we are good at, what our life’s purpose is and how to achieve our personal and altruistic goals.

Kujichagulia is a powerful theme. It is one that can all internalize. PM
