As the world solemnly recognizes African Liberation Day, otherwise called Africa Day on May 25th, the most poignant question comes to mind: How free are Africans in their homeland and in the diaspora?

How free are descendants of the motherland? How free are the children, grandchildren and other offspring from the shackles of slavery and abuse?

May 25th is a good opportunity to sit back quietly and consider these questions while charting the next step in the odyssey of the African experience.
