Families and friends looked on proudly at the Dumpling Cove in the Bronx, New York, as Patrick Maitland, publisher of Street Hype newspaper and former press attache at the Consulate General of Jamaica, celebrated 13 notable fathers in a cozy Father’s Day tribute.

State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie was honored for outstanding public service and his comments were succinct, yet powerful. Other honorees included entrepreneurs Vincent Hosang of Caribbean Food Delights; Andrew Morris of Sam’s Wholesale; Dr Roy Streete; Alphonso Jackson; Demonie Clarke; Errol Walters; Andre McDonald; Attorney Maurice Maitland; Chefs Christopher Baxter and Winston Brown; Dale Getfeld and pastor Roy Williamson.

Former Ms. St. Thomas Farm Queen, who was taught at CASE by the inimitable Monique Oates, wowed the honorees with a stellar rendition of Kelly Clarkson’s smash hit “A Moment Lile This.” MC Zippy Gan expertly handled master of ceremonies duties while DJ Shawn was in his element as he spun cool tunes such as Sizzla’s “One of Those Days.”

Rev. Franklyn Williamson, whose 85-year-old father was honored, delivered the prayer, while Maitland offered opening remarks and Kerieth Mair, CEO of The Dumpling Cove, brought greetings and provided the food. Happy Father’s Day gentlemen. The honors are very well deserved.#HappyFathersDay #streethype #dumplingcove #CarlHeastie #entrepreneur
